An open letter to the U.S. Congress

George Floyd's Death

7 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers!

I am sure that you are just as shocked and disgusted by the viral video of George Floyd being killed by law enforcement in Minneapolis. The video was deeply upsetting to me as it showed completely unnecessary lethal force. It was yet another example of the disturbing reality that some of our police officers see little to no value in the lives of our African American citizens. I strongly believe that congress needs to address the institutional racism that has directly impacted the work of some members of law enforcement. I am aware of the fact that as a Caucasian male, I have inherent privileges unlike my black neighbors. It is with that awareness that I feel like I must speak out against acts that are inherently racist.
