An open letter to the U.S. Congress Give the EIDL and Small Businesses Emergency funding and your support
7 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers! Small business needs your support. The EIDL needs emergency funding and the SBA and Treasury need specific guidance on disbursing the funds in the way Congress intended. The EIDL is the best program to actually help small businesses and keep the economy running.
The initial emergency funds in the CARES Act quickly evaporated and through mismanagement and bad guidance went to large companies like Ruth's Chris steakhouse. Meanwhile, truly small businesses received little to nothing. The EIDL guidelines were not followed and constantly rewritten on the fly by Treasury and SBA leadership. No small business received the actual emergency funding that we desperately need and very few are getting the loans they need to help for the next six months.
I urge you to abandon any further funding for the PPP unless and until the EIDL is funded to levels that match demand.
