I write to urge my representatives to truly listen to the voices of the majority of Americans: in these already tense and uncertain times, we must wait to have nominations or hearings on a new Supreme Court justice. Ginsberg’s many years of service to her country- longer than most military members serve- should be honored by leaving her seat unclaimed until after the election. If there is to be any hope in settling the divisiveness and unrest in this country, it requires genuine attempts to serve ALL people living in this country, with respect and mindful ethics. Instead of taking this opportunity to tear people down, pause and offer Ginsberg’s faithful service a few months of respect. You owe it to her and to your constituents. Justice Ginsberg fought for human rights until she couldn't any longer, even fought from a hospital bed mid- recovery- while others in politics take long vacations. We owe it to this real-life superhero's legacy to carry her touch of equality and justice for all. We will not rest until her mission is accomplished.
There is much work to be done- don't let her down. Don't let us down.
