An open letter to the U.S. Congress Help our nation's truck drivers!
11 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers! As our nations truck drivers work against all odds to replenish our supply chain they’re being faced with some pretty unfortunate circumstances. DOT officers in many states are disregarding the FMCSA exemptions and continue to harass drivers who are trying to bring supplies. Rest areas in many states have shut down, making the already incredibly difficult task of finding truck parking practically impossible. Restaurants all over the country are shut down, and 99% of establishments with drive through operations will not allow truck drivers to walk up to the window to order food. A few places are starting to try to accommodate by allowing them to call in an order, but most are not.
Would you please issue a statement asking DOT to reopen rest areas (at least for parking) and also a statement to fast-food restaurant franchises to allow call-in or walk-up orders? Our truck drivers are a major component to keeping the supply chain alive throughout this crisis.
Thank you.
