An open letter to the U.S. Senate Divisive tweet about a police reform bill while voting to confirm Cory Wilson ?
6 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers! It's disappointing to read such a divisive tweet about a watered-down police reform bill. That tweet was a distraction from your vote confirming Cory Wilson, a right-wing anti-LBGTQ, anti-women, anti-healthcare and anti-gun control idealogue.
The bill did not ban chokeholds, lynching or "no-knock" search warrants and did not touch on qualified immunity. The bill was lacking to begin with and tweeting was a cheap political jab instead of a sincere message to craft and pass laws that will protect your constituents.
You continue to support President Trump and Speaker McConnell in the destruction of our democracy and during a grave, deadly pandemic fill the courts with judges who, at the very minimum, oppose the affordable health act. Your silence about the Berman firing by AG Barr and not calling for any oversight is complicit, treacherous and will be damaging over the next generation - especially as you vote in Trump's lackeys to fill the courts with unqualified, right-wing, ideologues.
As of today, there are 123,000 Americans dead from Covid19.
Instead of a meaningless tweet, here are some suggestions;
Reform the cash bail system
Condemn President Trump for inciting violence and for racist remarks during his re-election rally
Call to impeach AG Barr
End police brutality, including banning tear gas
Ensure affordable health
care during this pandemic and beyond
Defund the police, fund our schools
Support bills that protect our civil rights like vote by mail; end qualified immunity; equality; access to affordable healthcare, etc
