An open letter to the U.S. Senate Lockdown, rent moratorium, voting rights.
15 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers! Firstly, I am contacting you urging for the protection of all Texans by fighting for a full lockdown of our state. That is the only way we will be able to ensure we don't end up like New York, New Jersey, Washington, or California. We must protect as many people as possible. Many high up medical officials are suggesting this.
Secondly, I would also urge for a rent moratorium in addition to the eviction moratorium. Many Texans have lost their ability to gain income, and we all are aware of how many people live paycheck to paycheck in this country and state, myself included.
Thirdly, I would call on you to work for Texas to establish a strong vote by mail system for November, and fight on the senate floor for all states to do the same. All registered voters should have their ballots mailed to their home, allowing them to safely vote during this crisis. A pandemic is no reason for democracy to end.
