An open letter to the U.S. Senate Please relieve me this pain of uncertainty
9 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers! I request your help in passing S386 in the senate. I have lived in the United States for over 13 years, my kids have spent almost their entire childhood in America. For all of us, especially my kids, USA is home. They haven't lived anywhere else much. I am a legal, law abiding, tax paying, socially and environmentally responsible resident of this country. My wife and I are engineers and we have been contributing to US economy in the ways we can. Yet, my entire family has to wait for decades before getting permanent residency in this country - just because we are born in India. My friends, equally educated from other countries have received their green cards a number of years ago. This is clear discrimination and NOT AMERICAN. The senate bill S386 removes this discrimination while not impacting jobs as well as not increasing the number of green cards. It seems Senator Durbin is holding this bill to pass in the senate; however, you'd know better about that. I request you to help thousands of families like mine to end the daily stress they are living in. In four years, my kids will start aging out of my green card application and may face deportation from the country they have lived their entire life. Plus having lived here all along, they have no connection to their "so-called" home country India. THIS IS UNFAIR, and I am sure you would agree with me. PLEASE HELP PASS S386 Fairness to High Skilled Immigrants.
Thank you and I appreciate your support and leadership.
