An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Death

22 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers!

Senators Burr and Tillis, On this most holy of Jewish holidays, Rosh Hashanah, Friday 9/18/2020, I am writing to ask you as our duly elected Senators from North Carolina to respect US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's deathbed wishes. I am respectfully asking that the Senate not accept, consider nor act on any nomination for Justice Ginsberg's replacement until February 2021. This country is 47 days away from a seminal election to determine the future of our Republic (and it is 124 days until a new President and Administration will be inaugurated.) Let the American people vote on 11/3/2020 without politicizing the nation's highest court. I beg you: please put the people before politics; please put country before party. I am asking you to uphold your Constitutional responsibilities and I beg you to stand firm against forces in the Republican Party that may wish to use Justice Ginsburg's death as an opportunity to subvert the will of the American people. For the sake of our Representational democracy, please stand firm on principle and do not denigrate the memory of one of our most respected jurists. Respectfully,
