An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures

Stop National Grid’s fracking pipeline now.

10 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers!

It is unacceptable that National Grid was permitted to build a gas fracking pipeline through my community of Bushwick (starting from Brownsville and continuing up through north Brooklyn). I am asking you to straight up revoke the NY state franchise with National Grid. I am not willing to pay for infrastructure that is a health threat to my community and for which I will see NONE of the profits. Governor Cuomo made a big mistake on budging on this revocation in 2019. The point of a this type of franchise is to provide services to all the customers, not to hold the residents of NY state hostage in order to get funds and permits to build a pipeline through predominately brown and black neighborhoods. Do you think this would have gone through if they proposed a fracking line through the Upper East Side of Manhattan? Don’t think so. How about through Park Slope? Don’t think so either. This is part of the continued pattern of violence again BIPOC. Shut down this TOXIC relationship with National Grid before the construction of the rest of the pipeline proceeds and completes.
