UVM's Poor Covid Preparedness

29 so far! Let’s get to 50 signers!

Please stand up for Vermonters and tell UVM that lives come before tuition dollars. The University of Vermont, unlike other colleges around the country, will not be requiring negative covid tests prior to arrival on campus. Instead they will only be requiring test within the first 48 hours and a 17YO on a college campus can infect a lot of people in 48 hours. This action, along with the cruel pay cuts and layoffs to faculty and staff, shows that UVM does not have the best interest of the students, employees, or the community, in mind. Instead they care only for money. This is astonishing in both its negligence and greed. UVM has an endowment of $550M. It just received another $28M from the state. It **projects** losses of $15M. And it's cut its payroll significantly with nasty layoffs and pay cuts. College students can learn online. However when the ill-conceived UVM plan fails it will cause city-wide covid outbreaks that will cause our preschools and K-12 schools to close and those kids can't learn online so easily. This will cause extreme hardship for Burlington families. Stand up for Burlingon families and tell UVM to require negative covid tests or close campus! #BTV #VT #VTed #VTpoli #highered
