An open letter to the U.S. Congress The Racially-Fueled Homocide of Ahmaud Arbery
9 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers! At 1pm on February 23,
2020, Ahmaud Arbery was on a jog in his neighborhood in Satilla Shores, GA, when he was gunned down by two men: Gregory and Travis McMichael. These two men allege that Arbery was a burglar and had attacked them while on a run.
New video evidence proves that that is a lie, and that these two men Gregory and Travis McMichael shot Ahmaud Arbery in cold blood in what can only be described as a racially fueled homocide.
I am demanding that congress investigates the situation surrounding the shooting. I am also demanding that Mr. McMichael’s work as a police detective be examined for any racial bias.
Both Travis and Gregory McMichael should be arrested forthright and held with no bond until they can have a trial and given due process.
Black lives matter and we cannot keep sitting by idly, or offering platitudes, when our young black and brown men and women are constantly falling victim to racial violence that we can curb.
