Police Brutality Resolution

19 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers!

In light of the horrific murder of George Floyd and of countless other black people across America, I urge you to support Reps. Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, Barbara Lee, and Karen Bass’s resolution condemning police brutality, racial profiling, and excessive use of force. Broken windows policing has been proven to disproportionately target black and brown communities--leading to voter suppression and the destruction of safe communal spaces for black and brown people, among other consequences. I recognize the immeasurable ways in which black friends, classmates, teachers, culture, and art have impacted me. Current policies, institutions, and practices are obstructing their freedoms and threatening their lives. I refuse to sit idly by as their right to live is being infringed, constantly and without second thought. Black lives matter. I hope you will join me in supporting this resolution.
