An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
Please Use Your Voice
7 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers!
I am writing to you in desperation. You have been my representative for many years. You have come to our town and talked to us. You know us. Time and time again after each town hall meeting you closed with a prayer.
You prayed to God while children were being ripped for their families and put in detention camps.
You prayed while unarmed black men were being gunned down in our streets.
You prayed while you and your party supported a president that at every turn sounds his racist dog whistle.
You have prayed and watched and been silent.
A friend has suggested that, “You’re just trying to get across the finish line.” Well, when you do cross that line you will be carrying on your back orphaned children, dead American soldiers, and hundreds of thousands of pandemic victims and a country so tattered it may never recover. That’s quite a legacy and quite a burden to carry.
But, there is still time for redemption. Speak up. Protect us and our country. Your continued silence means you must be more interested in protecting your six figure consulting job once you leave office. You are better than that.
