On Joe Biden's Campaign and the Path Forward
I'm writing on the topic of Joe Biden's presidential campaign and the future of our country. As new evidence continues to come to light corroborating Tara Reade's, it only becomes clearer that Joe Biden is not only unfit to lead the country, but will not be elected by the citizens of the United States. #MAGA voters may vote in trump with enthusiasm despite his sexual assault, however many democrats are not #VoteBlueNoMatterWho, and cannot bring themselves to vote for the "lesser of two rapists." To many, these accusations are the last straw. While for many obvious reasons Biden is a step above Trump, Biden is far from an ideal candidate. He lost the independent vote as well as the "youth" (under 45, so not really "youth") vote in many of the primary states thus far. His enthusiasm among his supporters, according to ABC polling, is the lowest of any democratic candidate in their 20-year history of enthusiasm polling. It is clear that Biden will not be the next president, and it is clear that we as a country will be re-electing Trump for a second term unless the democratic party steps up. Biden must drop out. Bernie understood when he had no path to the nomination, and Biden must understand that he has no path to the presidency. If the Democrats wish to defeat Donald Trump, the only candidate that has the enthusiasm, the polls, the policies, and the movement that can do that is Bernie Sanders. If Biden remains the nominee, the divide between voters so deeply entrenched in party tribalism and those that wish for actual progress over platitudes will cause the party to splinter. We, as the opposition party to republicans and Donald Trump, absolutely cannot afford to go forward with Biden at the helm. I am deeply proud of my representation in Congress. All three of you (Rep. Ayanna Pressley, to clarify my representative) have stood for progressive values and policies more than nearly every other public servant in congress. For that, I thank you. However, it is clear that our party's leadership is misguided, and it is times like now that require your leadership. The only path forward that does not involve a second term of Trump, along with a rudderless, broken opposition party requires your leadership. I implore you to stand up for policies over party, and stand up to the Democratic leadership that would lead us into the fire. Demand that Biden suspend his campaign, and endorse Bernie Sanders as the 46th President of the United States. As your constituent, as a citizen, as a human being, I am begging you to do what is right for this country. The path forward has never been more clear. I hope that you will do what is right and just. The future is in your hands. Thank you.
