Investigate Guillen's murder, Ft. Hood's toxicity & neglect; Support S.1789

6 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers!

In light of Vanessa Guillen's murder (motivated by her intention to report the sexual harrassment another soldier subjected her to) and the lack of urgency on the part of base personnel to ascertain her safety or whereabouts, I demand a thorough investigation into her harrassment, murder, and neglect. Given the high number of deaths, murders, sexual assaults, the operation of a prostitution ring, etc., I have no confidence in the leadership at Fort Hood or the military at large where many of these issues remain pervasive despite reform. The current system has failed our servicemembers for far too long. Therefore, I also demand your vocal support of NY Senator Gillibrand's S.1789 bill, which would restructure the reporting process for certain offenses outside the chain of command, thus removing the military's ability to decide whether to prosecute itself when such accusations arise. Let Vanessa Guillen's cruel murder be the catalyst for a more just future!
