BLAH BLAH BLAH
Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas. Interesting read yesterday about how America has lost the war on misinformation. We the people seem fine with not knowing the truth. We don’t believe the truth anyway so I guess it’s no big loss losing to fabrication. Today I’m suffering from ennui of the mind, body, and soul. That would be boredom tinged with depression and WTF. So I thought I’d write my daily therapy letter. Diaries are so 19th century. Interesting to read in Vanity Fair that some in the Trump administration had actually tried to formulate a federal response to Covid, but more pressing priorities took over... “...noting that Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner was the key decision maker in the process, and that his team first set up, and then dropped, a plan for national coordination to fight the virus. They abandoned the plan after Trump began to downplay the virus out of concern that it would hurt his chances for reelection, and because it appeared the virus was largely confined to cities. According to one public health expert who worked with Kushner’s team “The political folks believed that because it was going to be relegated to Democratic states, that they could blame those governors, and that would be an effective political strategy.” What should we call this type of leadership? Big fat failure that didn’t even pretend to care? And more on the election postponement ‘joke’ floated yesterday...some are not laughing. In a NYT op-ed a co-founder of the Federalist Society and formerly staunch Trump supporter Steven G. Calabresi wrote: “But I am frankly appalled by the president’s recent tweet seeking to postpone the November election. Until recently, I had taken as political hyperbole the Democrats’ assertion that President Trump is a fascist. But this latest tweet is fascistic and is itself grounds for the president’s immediate impeachment again by the House of Representatives and his removal from office by the Senate.” Wow. I guess y’all got schooled in some old-fashioned conservative values huh? Remember those? Before you got scared? And put allegiance to an unfit president before your country? And if you’re offended by that observation, I’m happy to be proven wrong. That’s all the tepid outrage I can muster today. Thanks for your time.
