An open letter to the U.S. Senate

HEROES Act

24 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers!

Please vote to pass the HEROES act and extend the extra $600 a week to unemployment insurance to last until December 31st. There are still Americans unemployed as not all businesses have reopened yet, or only partial operations of the business have resumed. For example, Disneyland plans to reopen on July 17th. If approved, they will not reopen with shows and parade offerings. That still leaves the Entertainment cast members, the actors and dancers of Disneyland, out of work. In addition, it seems that all businesses will be reopened by the end of the summer. I fear that this will cause the number of COVID-19 cases to rise again, as we haven't even had a chance for the numbers to decrease as they have in other countries. I fear that restaurants, hotels, hair salons, malls, amusement parks, etc. will have to be shut down again due to the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases. In the event that will happen, and I fully believe it eventually will, Americans will be unemployed once again and will not survive on unemployment insurance alone. The extra $600 a week will be needed to be able to afford basic necessities for their themselves and their families.
