Today is Thanksgiving, a holiday that originated from the genocide of Indigenous peoples. As many of us gather to spend time with loved ones, we also mourn the massacre of indigenous folks who have been on this land prior to the settlers’ violence that has led to present day America. We also mourn the over 11,000 Palestinian civilians killed by the Israeli government, which has the support of the U.S. government and our tax dollars. We cannot be for humanity and peace without advocating for a permanent ceasefire. Palestinians deserve to live in their homes free from violence. They need time to bury the dead, rebuild their communities. Israeli civilians deserve to live free from the false notion that their livelihood is tied to the oppression and dehumanization of Palestinians. We are paying attention to representatives who take action to center freedom and humanity. Permanent ceasefire NOW.
