It is a harmful platform for many vulnerable communities. The "Mandate for Leadership", the core part of the platform is over 900 pages, and was put together by former Trump Administration officials and other extremists, as a "roadmap" to implement these radical changes. These would cut programs and supports, including the dismantling of the Head Start program which would put over one million children at risk of not getting a strong start to their schooling, and potentially a loss of basic care and a decrease in their development and health. They aim to cut federal loan programs to parents of college students and make access to federal loans, especially for immigrant students, significantly harder. The platform attempts to put the health of many, if not all people, in danger through a plethora of dangerous attacks. A notable part of this "playbook" is an assault on a diverse range of protections from civil rights, including dismantling the efforts to address systemic discrimination based on gender identity, race, and sexuality by creating an "open season" on many civil rights achievements of the last several decades. This will impact how and where LGBTQ, disabled people, people of color, women, and other people in many areas, get access to jobs and many of their rights are directly under assault. It's critical that people get out to the polls, make sure everyone knows what is at stake, and let those who support these dangerous proposals know that the "Mandate for Leadership" won't be acceptable. The platform is meant to roll back critical supports for the nation.
