Stand with New Mexico. Ban concentration camps in New Jersey.
To: Gov. Sherrill
From: A verified voter in Budd Lake, NJ
February 19
New Mexico passed a law prohibiting the building and/or repurposing of existing properties for the purpose of ICE detainment. This legislation will guarantee more safety in NM than is currently afforded in NJ.
Morris county residents in particular are receiving word that an ICE detainment camp purchase has been made in Roxbury, NJ. While I am aware that you have been incredibly proactive in trying to rein in the reign of terror in our state, this purchase is extremely concerning to us all. We in Morris County have zero interest in caging humans. We also have zero interest in taxing our already overwhelmed water, electric, and sewage systems.
I urge you to stand with New Mexico in banning the development of concentration camps in our state. Do it for whatever reason you choose- the sake of humanity, the sake of infrastructure, the sake of traffic and the ICE-related violence we’ve seen in other states. Just for the love of Taylor ham and disco fries DO IT.
Thank you for your consideration on this matter.
