I am writing to express my shock at the way that Senator Alex Padilla was treated at the immigration briefing. Being forcibly removed, shoved to the ground, & handcuffed for trying to ask a question is beyond concerning. I have seen many Republican senators condone how he was treated, claiming he lunged & that he never identified himself. I’ve seen the video & know that is not the case. I have seen assertions that his behavior was inappropriate. When did asking questions become inappropriate? Many of us are scared of the authoritarian responses we’re seeing from this administration & garner hope from those that are speaking up & asking questions.
I know that from your past history you will likely toe the party line & make a statement that Senator Padilla was out of line. I urge you to consider your very scared constituents, who are asking the same questions that Senator Padilla is asking about what is happening in our country. Please, speak up before we are all silenced.
