An Open Letter

I’m writing as a Minnesotan who is deeply disappointed in your conduct and priorities, especially in light of the killing of Alex Pretti here in our state and the fear many of your constituents are living with due to aggressive ICE operations.
At a moment when Minnesotans are grieving, frightened, and demanding accountability, it is troubling to see you forwarding pre-approved talking points from the Trump team rather than speaking with your own voice or centering the people you were elected to serve. Leadership means representing constituents, not acting as a messenger for national political operatives.
Jesus taught that “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded” (Luke 12:48). You’ve been given a position of power and public trust. That trust requires moral courage, independence, and a commitment to truth, not obedience to party narratives.
Christ also said, “Blessed are the peacemakers,” and “Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me.” When families in your district feel hunted, frightened, or dismissed, the question isn’t political; it’s moral. Silence, spin, and scripted messaging do not meet that standard.
Minnesotans deserve a representative who shows up with integrity, who does his own homework, who speaks honestly, and who places human dignity above partisan loyalty. I hope you’ll reflect on whether your current path honors the responsibilities of your office and the ethical teachings many of your constituents hold dear.
