Repeal HB29: Keep Government Out of Reading Access

To: Gov. Cox, Rep. Dunnigan, Sen. Harper

From: A verified voter in West Jordan, UT

July 16

Repeal HB29. Deciding what people can and cannot read is not a legitimate function of government, and this law crosses a line that should never have been approached in the first place. Reading access is a matter of personal freedom. When the government starts controlling what books, materials, or information residents can reach, it sets a precedent that threatens every other liberty that follows from an informed citizenry. HB29 doesn't protect anyone — it just hands officials the power to decide what ideas the public is allowed to encounter. That's not governance. That's censorship. Vote to repeal it.
