The Speaker has always been chosen from elected members of the House, ensuring accountability to the voters. Proposing unelected individuals undermines this principle and sets a dangerous precedent. Elon Musk, a billionaire with no government experience and a history of erratic, self-serving behavior, is an absurd choice for a role requiring legislative expertise and impartiality. Similarly, Vivek Ramaswamy’s inflammatory rhetoric and lack of public service experience make him equally unfit. These endorsements appear more like stunts than serious considerations and further erode trust in government.
