Repeal the Strip Pedestrian Bridge Ordinance

To: Gov. Lombardo, Assembly Member Jauregui, Sen. Pazina

From: A verified voter in Henderson, NV

October 10

Repeal the 2024 pedestrian bridge ordinance now. This so-called "selfie ban" makes it a misdemeanor — punishable by six months in jail or a $1,000 fine — for someone to simply stop or stand on a publicly funded bridge. That is not public safety policy. That is criminalization of ordinary human behavior in a space taxpayers built and continue to pay for. The ACLU was right to call this the "most extreme regulation brought forward in years." Even Judge Dorsey acknowledged the county could have chosen far less restrictive options, like targeting specific times of day or specific locations. It didn't. Instead, it passed a blanket ban broad enough to ensnare a wheelchair user and a street performer. The county manufactured a crime where none existed. Repeal this ordinance before the 9th Circuit has to do it for you.
