An Open Letter

To: Sen. Cassidy, Rep. Scalise, Sen. Kennedy

From: A verified voter in New Orleans, LA

March 11

The SAVE ACT is a solution in search of a problem and I DO NOT support it. In Louisiana, I am already required to show identification when I present to my polling station. Making voter registration more difficult by requiring proof of citizenship is an unnecessary extra burden. A burden that clearly becomes more difficult for low income citizens who may not have the means to pay the fees to acquire the documents. It's an unfair burden to women who marry and adopt their spouses name. President Trump said the quiet part out loud - "passing the SAVE Act ensures Republicans win the midterms". He couldn't rig elections thru gerrymandering, so this is the alternative. Our elections are safe. The courts have repeatedly proven this. Non citizens are not voting. Please stop. Please do not support this legislation.
