An Open Letter
To: Gov. Kotek
From: A constituent in Union, OR
May 11
Dear Ms. Kotek, I live on the other side of the state from Portland, but am appalled at the choice you seem to be making to possibly fund the structurally unnecessary renovation of the Moda center in order to appeal to a sports team owner, at considerable expense to the people of Portland and elsewhere, while local schools are having to lay off teachers, increasing class sizes etc… Why does this feel so eerily and enragingly familiar? Could it be because it is the same mindset we’ve seen at work at the federal level for decades? The mindset that has allowed the ravages of the ‘trump administration’ to come to fruition?
