Oppose HUD’s Anti-Trans Housing Rule Change

To: Rep. Webster, Sen. Moody, Sen. Scott

From: A verified voter in Ocoee, FL

June 18

I am writing as your constituent to urge you to call on the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to withdraw its proposal to repeal the Equal Access Rule. The Equal Access Rule helps ensure that individuals experiencing homelessness can access shelter and housing services without discrimination. Repealing these protections would put transgender and gender-expansive people at greater risk of being denied safe shelter and essential services. Everyone deserves access to housing and shelter free from discrimination. At a time when many communities are already facing housing insecurity, weakening these protections would only make vulnerable people even more susceptible to homelessness and harm. I respectfully ask that you oppose efforts to repeal the Equal Access Rule and support policies that ensure fair and equal access to housing and shelter for all. Thank you for your time.
