Block the Removal of CBP Officers from Major US Airports

To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

May 27

Block this plan to strip Customs and Border Protection officers from ten major international airports, including O'Hare, LAX, JFK, Denver, and Newark. This is not immigration enforcement — it is economic sabotage dressed up as policy, and it will hurt millions of ordinary travelers and American businesses. Four of these airports rank among the top ten busiest in the country, collectively handling over 183 million passengers. Pulling CBP officers means no international arrivals processing — full stop. This hits just weeks before the FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off on June 11, when the US is supposed to be welcoming the world. TSA is already projecting over 18.5 million passengers in the Fourth of July week of 2025 alone, with 2026 numbers expected to climb higher. United Airlines, which operates hubs at five of the ten affected airports, would take a devastating hit, and the ripple effects across the domestic travel market would be enormous. The administration is willing to cripple American airports, airlines, and the tourism economy to punish cities that won't fall in line politically. That is not governance. Use every tool available — legislative, budgetary, oversight — to stop this from happening.
