Subject: Opposition to Fl SB 280 & HB 1573: Safeguarding Rights and Community

To: Gov. Desantis, Sen. Gruters, Rep. Grant

From: A constituent in Venice, FL

February 23

I am writing to express my strong opposition to Florida Senate Bill 280 and House Bill 1537. As a concerned citizen, I believe that this bill poses significant risks and challenges to our community and its residents. Upon thorough review of the proposed legislation, it has become evident to me that the bills undermine fundamental rights and freedoms, as well as over legislate areas that are currently governed by local communities. This bill appears to be a cash grab by the state. I am deeply troubled by the potential implications of Florida Senate Bill 280 and House Bill 1537 in stripping local governments, who are the best equipped and most knowledgeble on their regions, of the authority to regulate. As a resident of Florida, I urge you to oppose Florida Senate Bill 280 and House Bill 1537 and to advocate for policies that prioritize the protection of individual rights, equity, and the public good. It is essential to uphold democratic principles and to enact legislation that reflects the values and needs of our diverse population. Thank you for considering my concerns regarding this matter. I trust that you will carefully evaluate the implications of Florida Senate Bill 280 and House Bill 1537 and take appropriate action to safeguard the interests of our community.
