Oppose AZ HB2062, uphold dignity for all Arizonans

To: Rep. Gutierrez, Rep. Mathis, Gov. Hobbs, Sen. Sundareshan

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

February 12, 2025

AZ HB2062 is a bill that would require all laws, rules, and regulations in Arizona to use only "sex-based" terminology like male or female, rather than allowing gender-neutral language or options to reflect gender identity. This would effectively erase legal recognition of non-binary, transgender, and other gender non-conforming individuals across the state. Many face difficulties updating identity documents to reflect their gender, but this bill would codify those barriers into law and deny the existence of genders outside the male-female binary. This unnecessary legislation perpetuates discrimination against an already vulnerable population and should be rejected in favor of more inclusive policies affirming the dignity and equal rights of all Arizonans, regardless of gender identity or expression. I urge you to vote no on HB2062 and any similar measures that aim to marginalize transgender and non-binary community members.
