Defend naturalization and the constitution

To: Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst, Rep. Miller-Meeks

From: A verified voter in Batavia, IA

July 2

The Trump administration's threat to strip Zohran Mamdani of his U.S. citizenship is an alarming overreach that undermines the bedrock principle of birthright citizenship enshrined in the Constitution. This politicized attack sets a dangerous precedent for revoking citizenship based on ideological differences rather than established legal processes. Birthright citizenship is a fundamental right that has united our nation of immigrants for over 150 years. Attempts to revoke it erode our democratic values and the diversity that strengthens America. We must firmly reject any efforts to weaponize denaturalization for partisan gain against lawful citizens. Upholding the 14th Amendment's guarantee of equal protection under the law is imperative for preserving our constitutional order. Protecting birthright citizenship safeguards the rights of all Americans, regardless of background or beliefs. It is a core tenet of our democracy that must not be compromised by authoritarian overreach. I urge you to stand firm in defending this constitutional principle and the civil liberties it represents.
