Pass the Universal Constitutional Remedies Act to Hold ICE Accountable in VA

To: Del. Reaser, Sen. Perry, Gov. Youngkin

From: A verified voter in Sterling, VA

January 20

As your constituent, I demand Virginia pass the Universal Constitutional Remedies Act. No law enforcement, national security, or border security agent, whether at the state or federal level, should have absolute immunity for their actions. Nobody is above the law in America. Certainly not Trump’s Gestapo force. Those masked ICE agents running around our country abducting innocent people for no reason other than to meet their ridiculous quotas must be held accountable for the harm they are causing. If Virginia and other states pass this statute, we have a small chance to curtail the ongoing abuses by ICE and other agents operating in our communities. We have a small chance of repairing some of the damage they have done by enabling law suits when appropriate. This Act wouldn’t be a cure all for the heinous application of these untrained forces. But when combined with other resistance measures might give Virginians some much needed peace of mind moving forward. Pass it now!
