Our economy is at risk because of Trump
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in Miami, FL
December 16
I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent who is alarmed by what recent employment reports suggest about the direction of our economy. While Americans were promised unprecedented growth and prosperity, many of us instead see warning signs of stagnation, job insecurity, and economic stress spreading across working families.
The Trump Administration claimed that sweeping tax cuts and deregulation would deliver sustained job growth and economic stability. Yet after only a year in office, the data being released paints a very different picture for many communities: slowing job creation, uncertainty for workers, and growing anxiety about the future. Whether one calls it a “job recession” or simply a serious economic slowdown, the reality for millions of Americans is that opportunity feels increasingly out of reach.
What is especially troubling is the administration’s apparent refusal to take responsibility or adjust course. Instead of responding with thoughtful, evidence-based economic policy, we continue to see rhetoric that dismisses legitimate concerns raised by economists, workers, and small businesses alike. Leadership requires accountability, not denial.
Congress has a constitutional duty to serve as a check on the executive branch and to act in the best interests of the American people. I urge you to conduct rigorous oversight of the administration’s economic policies, demand transparency in how economic data is presented to the public, and pursue legislation that genuinely supports job growth, wage stability, and long-term economic resilience.
Working Americans cannot afford political spin while their livelihoods are at risk. We need leadership that is honest about challenges, responsive to evidence, and committed to policies that strengthen — rather than undermine — our economy.
I expect my elected representatives to take these concerns seriously and to act accordingly.
