Reject SAVE Act, protect voting rights for all citizens

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Ivey

From: A verified voter in Greenbelt, MD

February 8, 2025

The SAVE Act would strip millions of eligible U.S. citizens of their fundamental right to vote by requiring restrictive documentary proof of citizenship to register. This disproportionately burdens communities of color, the elderly, low-income individuals, those born at home who may lack easy access to documents like birth certificates, and women who have changed their names due to marriage or other reasons. Erecting unconstitutional barriers to the ballot box undermines democracy. I urge you to reject this discriminatory legislation that disenfranchises lawful citizens. Voting is the cornerstone of our society, and restricting it threatens the integrity of free and fair elections.
