I am writing as your constituent to strongly oppose any escalation of the war with Iran, particularly the introduction of U.S. ground troops.
Recent reporting indicates that the Pentagon is preparing for potential ground operations and that thousands of additional troops may be deployed to the region . This is a dangerous turning point. Even limited deployments risk rapidly expanding into a broader, prolonged conflict with no clear end.
A ground war in Iran would be extraordinarily costly in American lives and resources. Military leaders and analysts have already acknowledged that U.S. forces would face significant threats from missiles, drones, and entrenched defenses . Iran’s geography and regional alliances make escalation likely, not containable.
We have seen this before. What begins as a “limited” operation can quickly become an open-ended war. There is no clearly defined objective, no credible exit strategy, and no evidence that introducing ground troops would make Americans safer.
Just as importantly, Congress has a constitutional responsibility to authorize war. Any expansion of this conflict—especially the deployment of ground forces—must not proceed without explicit congressional approval. The American people deserve a full debate and a vote.
I urge you to:
• Publicly oppose the deployment of U.S. ground troops in Iran
• Support and enforce War Powers protections
• Push for immediate diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict
The United States should not be drawn into another costly and unnecessary ground war in the Middle East.
I look forward to your response and to seeing you take a stand on this critical issue.
