I am writing today to state that I do not support Hakeem Jefferies for Democratic leadership. He has proven, time and again, that he is not capable of meeting the moment. He is fully against things people have stated they want and support (such as universal health care) and is more interested in the status quo over progress. Over the last decade he has shown that he is not and will not stand up to fascism or the right-wing of this country that the midterms showed we are all fully against. We need bold, fresh leadership that isn't afraid to take the GOP head on and who is willing to take the steps toward real progress. I urge you to think deeply about his lack of leadership and that he is not fit to be Speaker or a figurehead of the party. I voted for you because I saw what you did as my city councilmember and my state senator. I know you are someone who deeply cares about our district and Americans at large. Please, find it in yourself to not fall in line with the old guard and ensure Jefferies is not leader.
