ICE Accountability

To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine, Rep. Kiggans

From: A verified voter in Virginia Beach, VA

February 2

I am writing to demand that you take immediate action to cease funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The ongoing, unchecked violence, abuses, and deaths occurring within immigration detention centers and during enforcement operations in our communities are unacceptable.  As my representative, you have a duty to ensure that taxpayer dollars are not used to tear apart families, terrorize our neighborhoods, or sustain a system that resulted in 32 reported deaths in custody during 2025. The recent, escalating deployments of these agencies into American cities have led to tragic, avoidable loss of life, proving that this system is not designed to protect, but to harm.  Therefore, I urge you to: • Vote NO on any FY2026 appropriations bill or continuing resolution that increases or maintains funding for ICE, CBP, or detention facilities. • Support legislation that redirects these funds toward community-based services, education, and healthcare. • Demand strict accountability and, if not met, push for the total defunding and restructuring of these agencies.  We cannot stand by while our tax dollars fund these atrocities. I expect you to take a firm stand for human rights and against this violence.
