Thank you for yet again stalling the installment of yet another purposely incompetent person into the federal government who might promote conspiracy theories or say outright eugenics principles on national tv. Thank you. This country is literally burning to the ground and it feels like you’re one of the only people really kicking that fire in the teeth. It’s crazy but you could have literally saved countless lives with this move. The appointees chosen by the President have already caused what I’m worrying is irrepreprable damage to social, scientific, and environmental progress that we need to preserve our very lives and create thriving communities of working class people. I can’t even imagine how justified bigots who look down on and refuse to support disabled and nuerodivergent people felt after Kennedy said all that. That likely caused UNTOLD AND IMMEASURABLE damage to to the literal crawl of social progress trying to make a world where people like myself aren’t labeled as lazy & incompetent and told “you’re not trying hard enough” - when we have to expend SEVERAL times more effort to do tasks that neurotypical people can do with almost no effort whatsoever - and told “get it together” and forced to willingly suffer the pain of sensory issues, mental breakdowns and meltdowns, and the stress of masking (pretending to be neurotypical and attempting to function in a way that does not support our needs) all of which, again, is completely unnecessary. This is suffering that could be prevented if people just cared enough to show disabled people the basic decency of accommodations in infrastructure and everyday life and to not think of us like some burden on society because otherwise they have to accommodate different needs and perspectives. That man went up there on national television and heavily implied autistic people are such a burden on their parents, communities, and country that we should study ways to eliminate the existence of future autistic children so we don’t have to be compassionate enough to accommodate what is needed for someone who does not meet the ideal standard of what HE and other unkind and commonly abusive people think a human should be. Appointees like Kennedy will, through their influence, ensure countless Americans are unsupported to the extent that they feel life is not worth living. All of this to say, to try to express, how much your effort is appreciated.
