Defend democracy, uphold rule of law - reject authoritarian overreach The actions being taken by the current administration are deeply concerning and represent a disturbing overreach of power that threatens the core principles of our democratic system. Offering buyouts to 2 million federal workers, dismissing agency watchdogs, and making it easier to fire hundreds of thousands of civil servants are steps towards consolidating control and undermining the checks and balances that are vital to a healthy democracy. The firing of inspectors general at multiple government agencies, a move that clears the way to replace independent watchdogs with loyalists. The reassignment of senior Justice Department attorneys and a freeze on all civil rights litigation point to a politicization of the justice system that is antithetical to the rule of law. Also alarming is the potential closure or restructuring of FEMA, which would severely undermine our nation's ability to respond to natural disasters and emergencies. Disaster relief should never be politicized or used as a means of exerting control over states and localities. These actions, along with the plethora of executive orders aligning with the project 2025 agenda, represent a concerted effort to centralize power, silence dissent, and erode the institutional safeguards that protect our rights and freedoms. We must resist this authoritarian overreach and defend the democratic principles that have made our nation a beacon of hope and liberty for centuries. URGENT action is needed to preserve the integrity of our government and the well-being of all Americans.
