Protect freedom and resist tyranny

To: Sen. Risch, Sen. Crapo, Rep. Fulcher

From: A constituent in Kuna, ID

July 13

Codified immigration law should be upheld, and immigration reform should be a priority, but what ICE is being ordered to do is illegal, immoral, and cruel. A daily goal of 3000 detainments does not support rooting out the worst criminals--it encourages attacks on easy targets. No agents of the law should be wearing masks or refusing to show warrants or credentials. They should be clearly recognizeable as legitimate officers of the law. Militaristic displays in public parks (such as that in L.A.) aren't law enforcement, or even intimidation--but a terror move aimed at families and children. The due process of law is in place to protect against error and abuse. Legal residents and even American citizens have been taken into ICE custody and vanished. Without legal review, ICE officers could claim anything, do anything, without repercussion. Citizens CANNOT be stripped of citizenship as Pres. Trump publicly threatened Rosie O'Donnell. Naturalized citizens are CITIZENS. Permanent legal residents are LEGAL RESIDENTS. All under jurisdiction of the United States have rights to due process, and citizens to the privileges of citizenship, including disagreeing with, demonstrating against, and criticizing leaders. If this continues, none of our rights or privileges are guaranteed, and the United States ceases to be the land of the free. STAND UP. SPEAK OUT. RESIST AUTHORITARIAN ACTIONS..
