An Open Letter
To: Rep. Wahab
From: A constituent in Livermore, CA
October 21
I am a constituent in Livermore, and I'm writing to ask you to call for an investigation into Meta's interference with the No Kings coalition's Instagram account.
On October 17, at the height of the national day of action, the coalition's main Instagram account was reportedly taken down without warning or explanation. It has since been restored, but according to organizers, its administrators remain locked out and unable to post. Meta has not given a clear public explanation.
Whether this was an error, an automated moderation failure, or something else, the timing demands answers. Millions of Americans use these platforms to organize and exercise their First Amendment rights, and a single company should not be able to silence a lawful, nationwide peaceful protest without accountability.
I urge you to press Meta for a full public explanation, and to support oversight of how the company moderates and suspends political organizing accounts.
