I am disheartened and disgusted by your decision to meet with the transphobic Women’s Liberation Front, whose mission is to deny the existence of transgender people. You have trans constituents. California is a trans sanctuary state! I imagine you’d never meet with the KKK to hear their thoughts on Jewish and Black people, so why is it that you think it’s okay to meet with a group of bigots who hate trans people? This is a woeful abdication of your job as an elected official who’s supposed to be fighting FOR the rights and equality of marginalized communities that are under attack. Please reconsider. Meeting with and hearing out bigots only legitimizes their bigotry as a stance worth hearing. And “x people don’t deserve human rights” is never a platform worthy of debate. Do not legitimize them. We deserve better.
