An Open Letter
To: Gov. Cox
From: A verified voter in Salt Lake City, UT
May 5
The governor appoints members of MIDA, who fast tracked and hid the massive data center in Box Elder County that you support. It is outrageous from a process perspective as there was no community involvement nor comment period. No one wants this. It is environmentally irresponsible and devastating to the Great Salt Lake and the regions around it, like Salt Lake County where I live.
I am deeply disappointed that you’ve hidden and then support this project. You minimize objections with petty names and false narratives, you avoid reasonable questions and scoff at concerns from constituents. You overlook clear conflict of interest.
I’m calling on you to remove the existing MIDA board, all of them, and replace them with credible and non-partisan appointees. I’m calling on you to take accountability for a flawed and rushed process and start fresh listening to local voices and answering the questions about environmental impact and water use. I’m calling on you to stop the antics and change your attitude towards constituents. You can do something and you continue to bury your head in the sand and not answer questions while pretending you want to find common ground. Stop the hypocrisy and obfuscation of facts.
