Vote no on amendments a3 and a4

To: Rep. Craig

From: A verified voter in Lakeville, MN

May 4, 2025

I’m writing to urge you to vote NO on Amendments A-3 and A-4 to SF1740 and to oppose any rollback of the discipline protections passed in 2023 to support safe, inclusive school environments.    Amendment A-3 would allow schools to withhold recess and delay access to lunch as punishment. Amendment A-4 would allow multi-day suspensions for children in kindergarten through 3rd grade.     We need an education policy bill that protects our children and ensures school staff have the training and resources to meet their needs, not one that reverts to exclusionary discipline practices.  This is especially important to me, as I have a disabled son who will be entering the public school system in the fall. He has behavioral issues as part of his disability, so this is a real, concrete concern for my household. Please don’t let my son be denied recess or lunch because of something he has no control over.
