I was on the town hall last night and was pleased by your vigor and readiness to fight for America and for New Jersey. I appreciate everything you are doing in this fight. I fear it isn't going to be enough. Trump, Musk, and the rest of the cabinet are blowing through checks and balances, rejecting the authority of the courts and Congress to shape an authoritarian regime to their liking. The fact that individuals who are worth more money than they could possibly spend have convinced people that the reason for their hardship is diversity, all to give themselves tax breaks with absolutely no consideration for their fellow Americans. The lack of empathy this administration has is absolutely nauseating. The language they speak is money, and even that is at risk here, with the country barreling towards another recession at a breakneck pace. I don't have a call to action or a request here. I know you're already doing everything you can. I know you'll keep fighting for us. But I'm scared. A lot of people on that town hall were older. I'm not, I'm 25 and I'm supposed to have my whole life ahead of me. I have a career I love in HIV prevention, threatened by federal cuts. My safety is on the line with the rise of authoritarianism that threatens me and my wife. My healthcare is at risk from anti-trans and anti-reproductive-care actions. Everyone's health is at risk with a bird flu pandemic bubbling up under the surface, sure to be heralded in by the new HHS secretary. I'm supposed to have my whole life ahead of me, but instead I'm here wondering if I'll even make it to 30. Thank you for your commitment to us, no matter what the outcome is, and I hope that we will see the other end of this and come out better than before.
