Line item veto to protect libraries

To: Gov. DeWine

From: A constituent in Middletown, OH

June 30

I love public libraries!!! You and Mrs DeWine have been longtime supporters of libraries, too. Don’t abandon them in this budget. Please line item veto the following from the budget to protect libraries- 1.  The reduction of the Public Library Fund (PLF) by $25 million. 2. The reduction of total state support from $504.6 million in FY25 to $479.7 million in FY26, a direct result of a shift to a fixed line-item appropriation and the $10.3 million in annual transfers to support state agencies and other organizations, money that will be diverted directly from local public libraries. Let’s keep libraries and reading cool!
