I urge you to vote NO on Todd Blanche's confirmation as Attorney General. The Attorney General's first duty is to the Constitution and the rule of law—not to any president. Todd Blanche's record demonstrates that he has repeatedly acted as President Trump's personal attorney rather than as an independent guardian of justice. Before joining the Department of Justice, he served as Trump's criminal defense lawyer. Since becoming Acting Attorney General, he has faced bipartisan criticism over his handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, and New Mexico has sued the Department of Justice and Acting Attorney General Blanche for refusing to provide records the state says are necessary for its criminal investigation. The New York City Bar Association has publicly opposed his nomination, arguing that he failed to demonstrate the independence required of an Attorney General and that he improperly acted to protect President Trump from potentially damaging disclosures related to the Epstein investigation. Even some Republican senators have questioned whether Mr. Blanche can act independently of President Trump, and concerns about the politicization of the Department of Justice have become a central issue in his confirmation process. America deserves an Attorney General who serves the people—not the President personally. History will remember this vote.
