Pass the standalone TSA funding measure this weekend. Airport security workers have been working without pay while travelers face massive delays at major airports across the country. This is unacceptable and fixable right now. TSA employees are classified as essential and continue showing up to screen passengers and luggage despite not receiving paychecks. They deserve to be paid for the critical security work they perform every day. Travelers deserve functional airports. Neither should be held hostage to unrelated negotiations over ICE funding and immigration enforcement. The solution is straightforward: fund TSA separately while continuing talks on the broader Homeland Security bill. There is no legitimate reason to tie airport security funding to disputes over immigration policy. Pass the TSA measure now and keep negotiating everything else.
