An Open Letter

To: Sen. Tillis, Rep. Ross, Sen. Budd

From: A constituent in Raleigh, NC

December 12

Please support the Military in Law Enforcement Accountability Act. There must be a necessary line between military and civilian law enforcement. We must enhance oversight of operations that deploy the military domestically, and we must require federal forces to identify themselves when they are on our streets. The Trump administration's policy regarding the U.S.military sent to our cities is illegal. Trump is weaponizing the U.S. military against our communities. Congress must pass legislation that restricts when and how a president can deploy the National Guard. Congress must affirm that troops do not belong in American streets. Congress must also know that we voters are paying attention and we demand accountability. A majority of Republican leaders timidly go along with whatever Trump says, right or wrong. It's critical that all leaders know where your constituents and the American voters stand. Trump's poll numbers are abysmal all across the board. Even among his most fervent supporters, Trump is failing. It is imperative that you listen to the American people and show loyalty to our country and our Constitution, and not loyalty to one unhinged man in the White House. Support the Military in Law Enforcement Accountability Act. It is time to take action to protect us from Trump's future abuses of power.
